Chesapeake Figure Skating Club General Membership Meeting

Meeting called to order: 7:00 p.m.
In Attendance:[1] Susan Dennison, Richard Dennison, Suzana Balasubramanian, Tara Balasubramanian, Michael Horn, Sam Ketterman, Amy Wright, Nick Kohut, Roy Wisniewski, Gary Dramis, Kim Freund, Lisa Lupton, A Stoupaki, Susan Wisniewski, Heather Cywinski, Mika Smith, Susan Hurley, Lee Jones, Alex Ketterman, Vanessa Leone, Donnie Sigwart, Blaise Sedney, Teresa Casey, Brenda Amrhein, Linda Gettier and Natalie Blagowidow.
Approval of Meeting Minutes: The minutes of the June 10, 2006 General Membership Meeting will be reviewed for approval at the July Board meeting.
Treasurer’s Report: Linda reported that the Club has a lot of money right now. She emphasized that the Club needs to put effort into using this money for its members. Linda’s report for May 9, 2005 to May 31, 2006 showed available funds of $2,932.57. Linda’s report for June 1, 2006 to June 18, 2007 showed available funds of $8,658.05.
Secretary’s Report: Brenda is finishing her two year term as Secretary.
Membership Report: Susan had next year’s membership applications available at the meeting. Applications are due July 1, 2007, but skaters who are competing should have their application in as soon as possible. Susan has 58 certificates that were not hand out from last year. Members should have received new ballots for Board elections. Election results will be announced in July. Susan reported that the Club has 89 members and four associate members.
Adult Skater Committee Report: Heather did not have a report.
Youth Committee Report: Molly reported that the Youth Committee made signs for today’s meeting. They also made placemats and thank you cards for judges who judged test sessions. Members of the committee also decorated for the Halloween Party.
Carnival Committee Report: Nick reported that 30 skaters participated in the Spring Showcase on May 19, 2007. The Showcase also included a judge’s critique. There was an increase in some prices, so cost of the Showcase was $1000.00 more.
Fundraising Committee Report: Suzana was recognized for her work as Chair of the Dinner Dance and Silent Auction. She requested that future Boards give money raised by the Dance to the Club for skater education.
Test Committee Report: Linda will be stepping down as Test Chair. A committee has been formed to run future test sessions: Amy Wright will be test registrar; Mika Smith will pre-register tests and record results; Brenda Amrhein will check-in and line up skaters; and Lynn Tobia and Jennifer Knight will share the roles of judge seeker, judge’s hospitality, scheduler and lead the events on test days. The next test session will be August 4, 2007; Linda reported that test will include MIF and Freestyle through the Preliminary level.
Publicity Committee Report: The Club has been running a contest for a new logo design. Designs that were submitted will be posted on the bulletin board and members will vote for a winner. The winner will receive a freestyle passcard.

New Business: Jordan Miller, a Senior men’s national competitor and Gold level judge, was featured as a speaker following the business portion of the meeting.
Meeting Adjourned: Business ended at 7:15; Jordan Miller addressed the Club from 7:15-7:40.
